Always a keen sportswoman, I have spent the last ten years working out at the gym and running. I have recently lost weight, although I haven't changed much in my exercise, my eating habits have changed so I thought I would share a few things with you. Never a one for diets (yo yo dieting is the worst thing you can do for your body and metabolism) I eat often and believe in fueling your body. Never starve yourself as your body will then store fat and have a weekend off (within reason).
I need to eat often and love a certain snack bar so I decided to make an alternative. My recipe takes 5 minutes and I tend to make a batch for the week ahead.
You will need:
200g chopped nuts (I prefer hazelnuts)
150g medjool dates (take stones out)
1 teaspoon of coconut oil
1 teaspoon of manuka honey
Put all of the above in a food mixer and pulse until finely chopped. Stop the food mixer and roll the mixture into balls with your hands. Add a little more honey or coconut oil if the balls are not forming. Keep the balls in your fridge and handy for when you Need a healthy snack.
