The Oscars; one of the most prominent award ceremonies in the world recognizing the excellence of the professionals in the motion picture industry was held this weekend in Hollywood seeing the biggest names in film flock to the red carpet. The women stars looked stunning in mostly sparkly, strapless, floor length gowns and bright colours were out in force; chiefly reds, greens and blues with a mini-trend of whites and metallic.
Best Actress Nominee Michelle Williams looked particularly striking in a vibrant red, backless Louis Vuitton tiered peplum dress teamed with Forevermark jewels and a pair of Louboutins. Our favourite pick from the night had to be Jessica Chastain’s Oscar gown, wearing Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen; the same designer who fashioned Princess Kate’s wedding dress. Jessica’s gown was a striking copper and black creation featuring incredibly intricate gold embroidery over the bodice and the skirt teamed with $2m worth of diamonds to finish the exquisite look. Other stars looked typically amazing; Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez to name but a few!

It was the Baftas last night and the stars brought a little of the Hollywood Glamour to London’s Opera House. All dressed in floor length gowns there were many competitors for the best dressed woman of the night. Our favourite has got to be Christina Ricci’s shimmering gold couture wrap Givenchy gown which made a massive fashion statement showing off her trim figure. Teamed with simple sandals and Bvulgari jewellery, Christina has the red carpet look perfected.
Others that wowed were Melissa George in a stunning wet look effect black gown by Victoria Beckham. Fearne Cotton looked sensational in a this seasons colour coral. She wore a Moshcino dress with a black bow around the waist, high jewelled neckline and teamed with bright lipstick and glam hair. Meryl Streep clinched the leading actress award and definitely looked the part of the leading lady in a plunging black Vivienne Westwood gown with corset top and finished off with a cropped sequinned jacket. A classic up do and black clutch bag finished off her sexy yet sophisticated look.

Here at HaveToLove, we love an awards ceremony and the annual Golden Globes last night did not disappoint! So, what did they wear? The red carpet style was a mixture of strapless gowns, effortless glamour and a few extravagant numbers thrown in.
Our personal favourites were Jessica Alba’s glittering strapless gown by Gucci, in a must have shade of the season-lavender. The dusty lilac shade of her stand out dress is very on trend at the moment, and we have some gorgeous pieces at HaveToLove in the same shade so you can try out the colour of the season. Another huge trend this season is lace, and Jessica Biel worked the trend perfectly on the red carpet in her beautiful Valentino white lace gown. We are seeing a lot of lace amongst the new arrivals in store and online, which we love! One of our favourite party pieces is the Style Stalker black lace dress with its feminine skater style skirt, definitely one to stand out of the crowd in. Team with a pair of our new in Malene Birger Elliat court shoes for a pop of colour to update the look.
