North East Magazine Living North features an article on HaveToLove Boutique owner Kate Walton.
Her efforts have been recognised by a diverse range of publications from the Daily Express to Heat, not to mention being shorlisted for by Grazia Magazine for Young Woman Entrepreneur of the Year.
If fashion is the only cure, then Kate Walton is rapidly becoming the apothecary for the North East. Having only graduated two years ago her havetohold handbags have already been dispensed to such fashion luminaries as Victoria Beckham, Colleen McLoughlin, Sophie Anderton and local popstrel Cheryl Tweedy.
Since her handbag designs gained recognition at London's 2004 Graduate Fashion Week, Kate's venture has exploded in to a runway success. Attention and encouragement from The Daily Telegraph's fashion director, Hilary Alexander, has spurred her on in the enterprise. Now a smart new boutique, HaveToLove, looks set to strengthen Kate's reputation as a serious contender in the fashion game.
Northumbria University graduate Kate relates the evolution of her bags: "The project gained momentum during my studies when I discovered a flare for accessorising bags. I now create these sourcing the finest leathers and complementing them with vintage jewellery picked up on my travels" The venture was established with funding from The Princes Trust as well as help from Business Link. "Family support provided an emotional backbone whilst my business know-how was enhanced with a six month finance orientated course in Newcastle."
Promotion is now handled by a London PR company and she is currently in the process of setting up a website for the new boutique.
Kate explains her ethic - " Always think positively, surround yourself with mentors, be very confident. It is essential to believe in the service that you can provide to your clients, but always be ready to listen to their suggestions." While the stress factor can be high with deadlines to meet and high demand placed on her time, Kate says the positive feedback is undoubtedly reward enough.
As success of her bags continues to straddle the globe, Kate's immediate concern lies with her boutique, HaveToLove located on Gosforth's Hawthorn Road shoppers can choose between well known designers and fresh new labels. Of course also available in store are her unique jewellery and handbag designs, accessories so stylish you need never run the risk of being party to fashion crime.
